4 dried ancho chiles, toasted and groundAmazon ↗

Steps

Toast and grind dried chiles in a dry skillet until fragrant

Brown ground beef in a heavy pot, drain excess fat

Bring to a boil, then reduce to a low simmer

Cook uncovered 1.5 hours, adding water if it gets too dry
